Group Activities Volunteer/Facilitator

Hi, I'm Beth
I’ve been volunteering with Carousel since April 2023 and it has become a real highlight of my week! Spending time and making music with such amazing adults is a real privilege and brings so much joy.
I’ve always been passionate about music and I learned to play the flute and Spanish Guitar from quite a young age. I studied Music at the Birmingham Conservatoire. I love being able to use my flute in some of the sessions. I have grown so much since I started at Carousel and I'm now facilitating sessions and running Music, Arts & Crafts for adults with learning needs.
Volunteering with Carousel has been life-changing for me. It has really helped to build up my confidence and communication. I’m also enjoying learning new skills like Makaton and graphic design.
Seeing the impact that music and creativity is having on so many people in such a positive way is heart-warming.
(Makaton is a language system that uses different methods to help people to communicate i.e. speech, signs and symbols).
